More carbon from a warming arctic:
As the arctic warms there will be increased CO2 sequestered because of increased growth and at the same time increased CO2 released because of increased soil respiration.  That is reported in (Arctic Thaw Boots Carbon NATURE vol. 467 no. 7315 September 30, 2010 page 502) describing work by Susan Natali and team of the University of Florida in Gainesville.  They found that on balance the increased release will outweigh the increased sequestration.

Although I am if anything too ready to carp at the work of climatologists, there is one thing we are wholly in agreement on.  This is an important subject and well worth the effort and the bright minds that are directed toward it.
